- UFP Packaging will invest $5.31 million in Gaffney.
- The project is expected to create 136 new jobs.
- Operations at 50 Peachview Blvd. are expected to begin in Q2 2027.
- The facility will produce wood packaging products for UFP Industries.
UFP Packaging, a Michigan-based industrial packaging manufacturer, chose Cherokee County to expand its South Carolina footprint.
The $5.31 million investment is expected to bring 136 new jobs for the subsidiary of UFP Industries. UFP Packaging designs and manufactures wood pallets and crates, corrugated boxes, structural steel packaging, and horticulture racks.
“This investment gives our Structural Packaging business added capacity, expanded geographic reach and enhanced ability to deliver highly customized solutions that help customers solve difficult packaging and logistics challenges,” Will Schwartz, president and CEO of UFP Packaging, said in a news release. “It also gives us the opportunity to build a team the UFP way — by developing people, promoting from within and creating careers that last. South Carolina’s strong manufacturing base, skilled workforce and values-driven business environment make it the right fit for our company and our culture.”
UFP Industries has over 100 locations globally, two of which are in Orangeburg County. The Gaffney operations will be located at 50 Peachview Blvd. and focus on producing wood products.
“We are proud to welcome UFP Packaging to Gaffney. Their $5.31 million investment and the creation of 136 high-paying jobs are a tremendous win for our community,” Gaffney Mayor Lyman Dawkins said in the release. “Revitalizing the 50 Peachview facility demonstrates Gaffney’s continued momentum as a great place to invest, grow and create opportunities for our residents.”
Operations will be online in the second quarter of 2027.
The Commerce Department’s Coordinating Council for Economic Development approved job development credits related to the project.
“Packaging solutions and horticulture equipment are essential parts of the agribusiness industry, so having UFP Packaging expand its South Carolina presence is great news for our farmers,” Agriculture Commissioner Hugh Weathers said in the release. “I thank the company for their commitment to our state.”
