Maars to open first US production plant in Charleston

- $3 million investment creates 10 new jobs in Mount Pleasant.
- Facility will include a fabrication plant and a showroom for architectural wall systems.

A global manufacturer has chosen the Lowcountry to establish its first U.S.-based production facility.
Maars, an architectural wall producer, selected Charleston County for the plant, is investing $3 million and 10 new jobs, according to a news release.
The Charleston County Maars location will be at 437 Interlock Alley in Mount Pleasant, serving as a fabrication plant to assist market demand and distribution in the United States. According to the release, the site will also have a showroom to display the architectural options.
“This expansion reflects our long-term commitment to supporting high-growth market segments and delivering excellence on key projects,” Ricardo Costa, vice president of Maars North America, said in the release. “We are bringing the same standards of manufacturing excellence, process discipline and quality that have defined Maars for over 80 years.”
Headquartered in the Netherlands, Maars produces modular wall systems for commercial interiors such as offices, hospitals, airports and universities in over 50 countries, the release said.
“Mount Pleasant is proud to welcome Maars North America to our community. Their decision to locate here reflects the strength of our region’s workforce, logistics network, and business climate,” Mount Pleasant Mayor Will Haynie said in the release. “This investment reinforces our role as a hub for innovative, high-quality manufacturing, and we look forward to seeing Maars thrive and grow as part of the Mount Pleasant family.”
