A Spartanburg Cunty-based manufacturer of mission-critical cooling equipment has planted its first flag on European soil.

Airsys Cooling Technologies Inc. says its first manufacturing facility on the continent has been set up in Hungary. The cost of the investment was not divulged.

The new location marks a milestone in the company’s global expansion plans and a commitment to localized production, Airsys Cooling Technologies said in a news release.

The facility, located in Páty within the Budapest metropolitan area, spans more than 118,000 square feet and is designed to serve as a future centralized hub for European manufacturing, assembly and quality assurance, the company said. The site will support advanced production processes while enabling closer collaboration with customers, partners and suppliers across Europe.

“With today’s announcement of our Hungarian facility, Airsys is taking a decisive step in bringing manufacturing closer to our European customers,” Yunshui Chen, CEO and founder of Airsys, said in the release. “This investment reflects our commitment to regional resilience, operational excellence and delivering high-quality cooling solutions with greater speed and flexibility as global data center infrastructure demands continue to evolve.”

The milestone will be marked by a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by Airsys leadership, regional partners and local officials. The event features a showcase of Airsys technologies and solutions planned for production in Europe.

“This facility represents an important foundation for Airsys’ continued growth in Europe,” Matthew Thompson, the company’s managing director for Europe, said in the release. “By establishing a European manufacturing footprint, Airsys is strengthening customer relationships, improving responsiveness and building the infrastructure needed to support the next phase of regional expansion.”

The hub supports Airsys’ broader strategy to align future production capacity with regional demand while maintaining global consistency in engineering, quality and performance standards, the release stated. The facility is expected to play a key role in serving data center, telecommunications and mission-critical infrastructure projects across Europe and other regions.

“A footprint is increasingly a prerequisite for serving data center customers at scale,” Alex Cordovil, research director at market research firm Dell’Oro Group, said in the release. “As AI and high-density infrastructure expand across Europe, proximity to manufacturing enables faster execution, greater flexibility and deeper customization. Airsys’ European facility strengthens its ability to support complex air and liquid cooling deployments as infrastructure designs become more bespoke and timelines continue to compress.”

Airsys, currently headquartered in Greer, is also making a major investment in South Carolina, as it prepares to unveil a new $40 million global manufacturing and corporate headquarters in Woodruff later this spring. The 245,000-square-foot campus will serve as Airsys’ global hub for production and research, including a dedicated R&D lab, along with a separate corporate office building.

Airsys produces high-performance cooling solutions that power the world’s most demanding digital infrastructure, including AI, cloud, edge computing, telecom, medical imaging, and environments, according to the release. The company has more than 1,000 employees across 16 global locations.
